HOW TO JOIN LGYT
LICHFIELD GARRICK YOUTH THEATRE IS ALWAYS ON THE LOOK OUT FOR TALENTED PEOPLE TO JOIN US.
BELOW YOU WILL FIND INFORMATION ON WHAT' IS EXPECTED OF OUR MEMBERS, AND HOW YOU CAN GET INVOLVED.
REHEARSALS
We rehearse every Wednesday evening and Sunday afternoon. Any succesful cast members would need to be able to commit to attending all of those rehearsals. Each cast member will also need to be available for all rehearsals set during show week, as well as occasional workshop rehearsals on Saturday mornings and obviously the full run of the production itself.
AUDITIONS
We cast each production by show, and prior to the auditions we hold a number of open rehearsals which are typically attended by around 100 prospective cast members. We require each auditionee to complete a membership form prior to auditioning. Auditions will be open to any child aged from secondary school year 7 upwards (minimum age 12 by the time of the show) up to a maximum age of 21 and still in full time education.
Auditions for the production will usually consist of a dance audition, singing audition and also an acting audition for a principal part. All chorus auditions will require a singing and dancing audition. We aren't looking for perfection, just potential at this stage so don't ley that put you off!
We are entirely self-funded through our ticket sales, however we do charge a small fee for taking part which is collected once the show has been cast. This is currently set at a cost of £80 per member, per production. This covers our rehearsal costs (venue hire, insurance, rehearsal pianist etc...).
Depending on the production, we can usually only take between 40 and 50 cast members.
We encourage those that were unsuccesful to come back and try again at the next production auditions.
Please note: All of the above is subject to change depending on the production requirements and schedules of our production team, so please check out the NEXT SHOW page for more information.
BACKSTAGE ROLES
It's not just the action onstage that we look for help with - but also the backstage teams across Stage, Lighting, Sound, Costume, Make Up and Props. You will be supported and trained by our talented team of industry professionals, so this will be a fantastic experience if you are considering pursuing a career in any of these areas.
You would need to be over 16 to work backstage, but please get in touch with us if you are interested in helping.
If you are interested in joining, please go to the Contact page or look on our Next Show page for further information.
